About Kotla

In the north of Pakistan, inclined towards the state of Kashmir, at the crown point of Punjab, and at the northern outskirts of the district Gujarat; sits the entangled town of Kotla Arab Ali Khan. Kotla itself means a population settled by someone and here, it was Arab Ali Khan. Many myths revolves about this early settler of the town but one thing is sure that he must have been a man of extra nerves to lay a foundation of a town in an arid landscape.

Kakrali (a suburban village) however, has been a good support to let this town flourish to a financial hub of the area to which other neighborhoods join their support later. Now a days, Kotla is a main financial hub for over a hundred suburban villages. Essentially, hardworking and tactful people of this town and its neighborhood have suffered the longest bloodshed of the biggest feud of Punjab, if not of the country. Well over a hundred people were murdered or stray killed during a political warfare of gaining political supremacy cum satiating a mindless vengeance of two groups of Gujjar clan.

Nevertheless Gujjat / Jaat castes have been used as a political cards in the politics of Gujrat district anyways. This also throws light on the lack of education in general and the dearth of modern education in particular in this area. More and more people are now relating themselves with local businesses and services sector.

A large number of population here and around this town, lives abroad which is a big plus to its financial survival. In the recent years, the new development structure have enthralled a new life to the body of its social activities but the brain remains stuck with the lack of modern and enlightened convictions.

The youth looks towards the new horizons of possibilities with rather a nervous and confused passion. Like anywhere else in the rustic Pakistan, the key of success lies in the freedom from political conversationalists, freedom of thought and openness of social equality.
